My ACCESS Journey: Week 8

The ACCESS program gave me all tools to begin approaching life more intentionally and without unnecessary "stuff" like misperceived beliefs about ourselves. I watched my group break down these barriers in themselves together.

I cannot believe we’ve made it to the last weekend! These past 8 months of ACCESS have been a roller coaster. Seeing this program through to completion is an accomplishment I am deeply proud of.

What was the most impactful part of ACCESS for you?
Learning from the people who were in the training with me by hearing their stories. I recognize that I, and others, built my life around stories I created and a one-sided perspective. The ACCESS program gave me all tools to begin approaching life more intentionally and without unnecessary “stuff” like misperceived beliefs about ourselves. I watched my group break down these barriers in themselves together.

How do you show up differently in your life now since the beginning of training?
I’ve found that I am more patient. I don’t react with emotion anymore as I had used to. I am able to pause and think more before reacting, which is different from my normal default. I am more positive and accepting of the people around me for who they are and respond to life more intentionally.

What was the most challenging part of the program for you?
Aside from anatomy, teaching was actually quite a challenging part for me. It was hard for me to get up in front of everyone during the final teaching practicum. My work right now is to create myself as enough and capable. The final teaching practicum required me to do that and it was hard, but I did it!

Where did you feel empowered within the program?
Within my training group. Everyone was empowering in every way and they still are even now that the program is complete. I couldn’t have asked for better people to be my support. They held space and made me feel safe to grow, learn, and experience. I am inspired by them and my ACCESS leaders, to do the same for others.

What is next for you since you’ve completed ACCESS?
My “next” is staying in the work. I have been assisting classes at Evolution and am continuing to practice teach. I am determined to find my voice and confidence to teach, but there’s always more learning to do!

To sum it up, the ACCESS 250-hour training was pretty much the best thing I could have done for myself! I discovered a lot of new tools and ways to grow. I have never felt so safe, supported, and comfortable with complete strangers before. Those strangers have become my family over the past 8 months. Whether you want to teach yoga or not, I would recommend this program to anyone who is ready to be there best self!
