Philosophy

With every breath, there is a moment.
A moment to heal.
A moment to listen.
A moment to become.
One breath. One moment. One you.

Evolution Power Yoga is more than just a studio. It is a space to let down your guard, to drop your burdens and expectations, to experience the freedom to simply “Be.”

You are already complete and perfect as you are—and it is only up to you to become a part of our community of support. Through movement, breath, and contemplation, the EPY community fosters self-expression and personal growth that allow you to access your most authentic self. By being present in each and every moment, your light will shine on everything you do, and we are honored to be a part of your journey.

We understand the very personal journey that our students undertake in becoming students of yoga. To ensure the sanctity of our studio space and the respect that every EPY student deserves, each of our teachers and teachers-in-training is also required to uphold the EPY Code of Ethics.

EVOLUTION POWER YOGA
CODE OF ETHICS

It is my duty, as a teacher or teacher trainee, to hold a sacred space for my students.
Any information revealed by or about my students is confidential.I represent the studio even when I am not teaching or at the studio.
I will strive to be my authentic self everywhere, with everyone, all the time.

I believe that everyone is welcome, able, and should be encouraged to find their path to their success through yoga.
I will acknowledge students when they enter, letting them know they belong.
I will teach to the ability of the class and offer modifications or props when needed.

No student, peer, or teacher should feel threatened or unwelcome based upon my attention or intention.
My touch transfers energy, and therefore I will only assist and teach when I am absolutely clear about exactly what I am doing and why.
I will be impeccable with my word by using only appropriate and constructive language. I understand that gossip and negative criticism reflects poorly on my intentions and myself. I will give feedback with integrity, honesty, and a respect for the experience of others.

I will hold myself to the highest standards of cleanliness, modesty, and professionalism.
I will arrive 30 minutes before any class I teach or assist, or 10 minutes before any training session I attend so that class can begin and end on time.
My skin, hair, breath, nails, and clothes will be clean and fresh for class.
I will wear clothing that fits and is appropriate for yoga. My clothing will not be revealing or distracting to my students or peers.

As an ever-evolving individual, I will continue to seek growth and learning through practice and further education.
I will maintain a current CPR certification and continue my study of yoga.
I will follow Yoga Alliance’s guidelines of continuing education if I choose to teach in the future.

The tree of yoga is broad, and all limbs deserve my respect.
I will teach with integrity, with attention to appropriate sequencing and the needs of my students.
