Lucy Garnett
Birthday: October 24
Zodiac: Scorpio
Favorite Asana: Sirsasana (Headstand)
Lucy began practicing yoga as a teenager and quickly discovered her passion for both its physical and psychological benefits. “I loved the connection of breath and movement, and how I could find power and stillness through the flow,” she explains. By the time she was 20, she completed an Ashtanga-style teacher training with David Swenson and became an instructor.
With three years of teaching experience under her belt, Lucy learned about Evolution Power Yoga and was excited to try out another style of yoga in Lancaster. It only took one class for Lucy to realize she’d found her match. She was soon practicing regularly at EPY, and in the Fall of 2008, took advantage of an opportunity to begin teaching at the studio.
Since then, Lucy has become a fixture at EPY and loves seeing new people enter the studio every day. “I love inspiring people to challenge their bodies and perspectives, and seeing the post-savasana glow on my students’ faces,” she says. “I’ve learned that people will grow when they’re ready to grow. As a teacher, I support them by showing up, holding the space for them, and being here when they want to take the next step.”
She’s also learned that she has the ability to make any practice a powerful experience. “What inspires me most about yoga is being able to choose my experience in every moment,” she says. “I love being able to have my own meditative and physical flow and simultaneously transform along with the group. I can also use my breath to find peace in any moment in life.”

A Note From Lucy Garnett
“I practice yoga because it is a vehicle for me to transform everything, from my body to my spirit. I love the magic that happens while practicing in a room full of people all striving toward some truer version of themselves. There is a more subtle, secret magic that happens while practicing alone to the unique flow of my own breath, letting the universe inspire my movement. Yoga is my reason to breathe, to strive, to evolve, and also to be still and to listen. Sharing yoga with my students brings me as much joy as practicing does, and I love our community of yogis who challenge and inspire me in every breath and every asana.”
