Anita Jarowenko

Anita Jarowenko

Birthday: October 29
Zodiac: Scorpio
Favorite Asana: Bakasana (Crow)

Anita began her health and fitness practice long before connecting with yoga. She completed her B.S. in Health and Physical Education and spent years as a fitness trainer and instructor. Though she knew about the importance of stretching and flexibility in a fitness routine, it wasn’t until an injury in 2006 that Anita first began a yoga practice.

While the pain from her back injury began to disappear, Anita realized she’d found something much more powerful than just another exercise routine. “What started off strictly as a physical activity became a tool for me to begin tapping into my fullest potential as a human being,” she says. Deeply moved by what she’d found on the mat, she knew she had to begin sharing yoga with others. By 2008, she was teaching.

Anita loves yoga’s holistic approach to strengthening her mind, body, and spirit, but she’s even more inspired by the remarkable individuals she’s already met during her few years in the yoga world. “It is so amazing to share the journey with such diverse and wonderful people,” she says. “I love seeing their practices grow!”

As a teacher, Anita is passionate about allowing her students to explore their own practices without judgment or expectation. She’s also learned that being “perfect” is not what yoga is about—mistakes are life’s lessons, and by taking everything in stride, Anita knows that she will show up and shine without fear of looking silly or unknowledgeable. “There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ in a yoga practice,” she explains. “It’s only what you bring to your mat that day. Explore it; accept it; embrace it; be thankful for it; love it! (Then come back tomorrow and start all over again!)”

A Note From Anita Jarowenko

“For me, yoga is a process which allows me to disconnect from the external and journey inwards to reconnect with myself and with God. It provides a safe space for me to try on new ways of thinking, helping me build new “mental muscles” to take out into my life. This amazing journey has opened up my eyes to glimpse my potential and the unlimited possibilities before me. It is with great joy, love, and deep gratitude that I share yoga with others. Anyone can do it, and my wish for the world is that everyone did, as I believe the world would be a better place!”
